Things I like: single word – big concept

Recently I discovered the word “weltschmerz” and I’m trying really hard to remember it (a project that does not come easily to me).

Weltschmerz * apparently means “a mental depression or apathy caused by comparison of the actual state of the world with an ideal state”.

If a picture paints a thousand words, then any painting containing weltschmerz is an especially space-efficient work.

May none of you feel the rumblings of weltschmerz in your souls!

* from the German “Welt” (world) and “Schmerz” (pain)
